The story of a Marathon

Maraton Filtre entered the filter production sector for the first time in 1990 in its small workshop in Istanbul-Bayrampaşa by manufacturing “Air Filters” for buses and trucks.
Following this first step, Maraton Filtre A.Ş. progressed even further after being acquired in 1997 by Melek Filtre A.Ş. which is the most experienced and expert company in filter sales, marketing and distribution in Turkey and introduced the brand “Mex” to international markets. The Company aimed to make the MEX FILTER brand lead the international markets as the number 1 brand.
 
Maraton Filtre A.Ş. moved to its new production workshop in Istanbul-Ikitelli in 1998 with the purpose of new improvements force. The Company also added Light and Commercial Vehicles, Heavy Duty machinery and Air, Oil and Fuel Filters for Industrial Applications to its product range.

After starting to manufacture Spin-on (Atom type) Oil, Fuel and Anti-Corrosive filters in 1999, the Company continued to grow upon the principle of OUR CUSTOMERS’ DESIRES ARE OUR COMPANY’S PRIORITY. With this development, Maraton Filtre A.Ş. increased its technological capacity and started to manufacture 1,500,000 pcs/year annually.
Maraton Filtre continued to use efforts in 2000 and had its quality certified internationally by being awarded with the “ISO 9002 Quality Certificate” by DASA-Zert which is one of the leading quality auditing companies throughout the world.
Contributing greatly to national economy without compromising even a little bit from its growth rate, Maraton Filtre left its former workshop and moved to a larger factory in Beylikdüzü-Istanbul which it currently inhabits. With this move to new premises, a desire for bigger undertakings arise in Maraton Filtre and the Company decided to render its services with an even larger capacity. To this end, Maraton Filtre increased its production capacity from 1,500,000 pcs/year to 4,000,000 pcs/year.
The Company also undertook a new venture and fulfilled the demand for “Gearbox Filters” used in vehicles equipped with ZF type Gearbox systems.

Progressing quickly in the road opened by science, Maraton Filtre A.Ş. started to convert “Element type” filters to “Plastic Cartridge” (Metal Free Filter) type filters not damaging environment under the brightness of science. Within this direction, Maraton started to renew Air Filters and to manufacture filter heads by using polyurethane and radial cap instead of PVC and metal in order to cause less damage to the environment. Therefore, the company showed all companies and persons following it that both customer satisfaction and human-environmental health are important through the cooperation of Maraton-Mex-Melek Filtre.

After starting an even larger technological renovation from 2003 on, Maraton had been an example for its competitors with the high-tech mould and production technology of its premises, its trained personnel.
In 2004, Maraton included the latest filter products of “Air Dryer” and “Centrifugal Oil” in its product range.
